Who are you, lady?

Inigo Montoya: Who are you?
Westley: No one of consequence.
Inigo Montoya: I must know…
Westley: Get used to disappointment.
Inigo Montoya: ‘kay.

moiSo, you’re probably wondering, just who I am. My answer to that is: No one of consequence. Really.

But if you must know the minutia of my life, I’ll be happy to share. It won’t tell you who I am, though, because that’s something that’s constantly growing and changing. Think you know me one day - got me all figured out - then I’ll pop up with something new to surprise you. It’s the same with everyone.

The basics: As of this writing, I’m 47 years old, divorced, with one daughter who’s 23, and about to graduate from college. I’m a nurse, and have been one since a week before my daughter was born. I live in Tallahassee, Florida, and have lived in this area my entire life.

I was raised Methodist, but my best friend was Catholic, so I attended mass almost as often as I did my own church. As most do, my religion fell by the wayside during college, and briefly flared back up again when my daughter was young. I kinda rather slid into paganism, as my marriage was ending, back in my early thirties. I was pretty heavy into it, too, leading rituals, heading up the local pagan council, even was a prison minister for awhile.

But I wasn’t very happy during that time. I had affairs with married men, wasn’t very smart about who I hung out with, and really - spiraled down into a very bad place.

Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom, before you can begin to look up. And it was through the grace of God, that I was able to look up. Not only look up, but be brought back amongst the living.

So! here I am now, called back home to God, happily “re-po’d” and loving life. Grace is an amazing thing. To this day, “Amazing Grace” brings tears to my eyes. It’s not always been an easy journey, and I still stumble, quite a bit, and that’s what this journal is for, to chronicle my journey back home. If you find some use for my journal, then we are both blessed; me for the sharing, and you for the receiving.
